Q3 Update: Santa Cruz Tech Companies
We caught up with a few of the businesses and startups in our area to find out what they’ve been up to, what’s next, and whether they are hiring. Here’s what they had to say:
Amazon Santa Cruz - We have 17 open roles, including User Experience designers, software development engineers, data scientists, and product managers. Amazon beat earnings and continues to disrupt industries from healthcare to space. Come help us build for mobile apps, Rivian electric delivery vehicles, and more!
Claret Bioscience - Claret is building out our commercial team. We are hiring a full-time NGS Sales Specialist.
Climatize - Climatize launched the beta version of their app. They’ve also expanded their project pipeline to 10 Letters of Intent representing >$155M of clean energy development representing $7.5M of future revenue value. Raised $460,000 from the New York State Energy Research & Develop Authority, Responsibly Ventures, Central Coast Angels & the Co-Founder of GoFundMe. Recently selected to join the Techstar’s Boulder accelerator, one of the Top 3 accelerators in the world. What's happening next quarter: Receiving approval from FINRA & the SEC to offer investments as a Regulated Funding Portal. Onboarding 1,500 investors to help. Planning to raise $60,000 through Climatize to fund the 12 solar projects for low-income families in collaboration with the Community Services Development Corporation (CSDC).

Fonda - We've processed over $1.98MM in sales for restaurants in the last 90 days alone and we are in the process of launching in Austin, Texas within the next few weeks. LifeAid - We recently launched our new clean energy line, FITAID Energy. Our energy line has gained recent authorizations in Raley's / Nob Hill, Sprouts, Save Mart / Lucky's, New Leaf, Shoppers, Scotts Valley Market, Johnny's, Delux Foods, etc. We have also re-signed 3x NBA champ Kevon Looney w/ the Warriors to continue to represent the brand as well as 49ers standout receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Joby Aviation - Our focus is on three key goals: certifying our aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing for operations. We are currently accepting applications for nearly 200 open positions at our world-class manufacturing facility in Marina, CA as well as at our offices and workshops in Santa Cruz, San Carlos, Washington, D.C., and Munich, Germany. Mynt Systems - Mynt is currently delivering 12 local mid-market solar + storage projects that generate clean energy for tenants and increased operating income for owners. Ideal building types include manufacturing, fabrication, and food production. Mynt has also begun delivering revenue-generating EV charging solutions for retail centers.
OurEnergy - An engineering, technical advisory and renewable energy infrastructure development services company, is proud to be a leading provider of energy and utilities modernization work for public agencies, private companies, real estate and utilities across the US and in several strategic international and emerging markets. We are excited to be growing and entertaining strategic partnerships and equity opportunities with investors at the project and corporate levels. We are also currently hiring and searching for project managers, engineers and executives to join our growing team.
Parallel Flight Technologies - Parallel Flight is starting a Series A campaign for $20M. They are taking job applications for mechanical and electrical engineers to hire in fall 2022.
Paystand - We are very excited to share that on Wednesday, we announced our acquisition of Yaydoo. We’re thrilled to add one of Mexico’s 100 fastest-growing startups and the Mexican and LATAM leader in accounts payable, cash flow management, and liquidity solutions. Both Paystand and Yaydoo offer a wide range of technology-enabled B2B solutions for automating transactions, payment, and bill collection processes. The acquisition represents one of the biggest technology unions in Mexico and LATAM and makes commercial blockchain-based solutions more accessible across the Americas. HIRING!
Purcell - Purcell’s second quarter has been primarily focused on product development. Russell and David have been spending the majority of their time in San Francisco designing and redesigning every part of the dispenser as we prepare for the fall launch. Robotics Cats - Some accomplishments in Q2: BD: Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge (one of the 94 semi-finalists) They’ve partnered with WWF Hong Kong to research AI bird detection and CITRIS Workforce Innovation (one of the 45 host organizations; joint new product research with UC students) RC was selected to MassChallenge US Early Stage 2022 Cohorts (one of 250 startups).New things in Aug and Sep: LookOut Cam app in now available on Google Play allows you to turn your smartphone into a camera for LookOut Wildfire Detection SaaS. We signed up for our first paid pilot project in California last Friday, July 29th, and have LookOut Wildfire Detection SaaS pilots in Turkey and Colombia. Looking for job opportunities?
