UCSC Biotech Ideathon Seeking Community Participation

Flyer for students. Please contact Elizabeth via email if you would like to participate.

The Biotech Ideathon competition is a platform for UCSC students to showcase their creativity and passion for sustainability. Participants will have the opportunity to transform ideas into actionable solutions, crafting comprehensive pitch decks under the guidance of industry experts and mentors. This event will take place on April 27th and 28th from 11am - 4pm and consist of company start up stories, Q&A, lunch, brainstorming groups, and startup pitch practice, and much more.
The organizers are offering several ways for Santa Cruz Companies to contribute such as:

  • Provide a Problem Statement: Share your insights and expertise by offering a problem statement related to sustainability. Your contribution will guide students in addressing real-world challenges. For example, maybe there is a task or tool that you wish were easier to use or existed.

  • Sponsorship: As a sponsor, you can help make this event even more impactful. Your support will help provide resources, prizes, and opportunities for students to bring their ideas to life. Sponsors will have their branding around the event and on the flyer.

  • Supply a Judge: Join us in shaping the future of eco-innovation by providing a judge for the competition. Your representative will play a crucial role in evaluating pitches and providing valuable feedback to participants. Judges preferably should have a Venture Capital background, sustainability background, or overall start-up background.

Your involvement will not only inspire students but also foster collaboration and drive positive change within the community. The support of the community is instrumental in empowering the next generation of eco-entrepreneurs.

”We would be delighted to have Santa Cruz Companies on board for this exciting initiative. Together, let's ignite creativity, innovation, and sustainability!” - Elizabeth Firestone.
