Join us for a special community screening of Sequoias of the Sea, an award-winning documentary that explores the beauty, importance, and vulnerability of California’s kelp forests—often called the “redwoods of the ocean.”
Over the last decade, California’s North Coast has lost an estimated 95% of its kelp forests, transforming once-thriving underwater ecosystems and deeply impacting coastal communities. Sequoias of the Sea brings this crisis into focus through stunning cinematography and intimate storytelling, following scientists, Indigenous leaders, fishermen, and ocean advocates as they work to understand what’s driving kelp decline—and how communities are coming together to bring the kelp back through restoration, collaboration, and traditional ecological knowledge.
Join us at Santa Cruz Boardroom for Terry's famous tacos and a lively kelp discussion, where we’ll gather to talk about the film, local kelp ecosystems, and how we can support ocean health here on the Central Coast.
Come hungry, curious, and ready to connect with fellow ocean lovers 🌊🌿🌮
