High School Robotics Club Open Houses — Students & Mentors Wanted!
Calling all high school students, families, and community mentors!
High school students across Santa Cruz County are invited to join the FREE countywide Robotics Club, home of the 2026 MATE ROV Ranger Class World Champions! This past June, 23 students from 9 Santa Cruz County high schools competed against 47 teams — and won the World Championship demonstrating what is possible when young people are given the opportunity. 🏆🌊
Through a partnership between the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and X Academy, students work together to design, build, test, and compete with underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) that tackle real-world marine challenges.
No experience is necessary. Students can explore engineering - electrical, software, mechanical - along with environmental science, design, fabrication, marketing, fundraising, digital media, teamwork, and leadership.
📅 Attend an Open House
Come meet the team, see the robots, learn about the program, and find out how to get involved.
