3DE Club’s Kids Activity & Entrepreneurship Showcase at Abbott Square was a Huge Success

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The 3D Entrepreneurs Club (3DE Club) successfully hosted its first-ever Family Education, Arts & Entrepreneurship Showcase, bringing together more than a dozen local educators, artists, nonprofits, youth organizations, innovators, and community partners for a successful celebration of creativity, learning, and entrepreneurship.

Held at Abbott Square in downtown Santa Cruz, the free community event introduced families to many of the outstanding educational, arts, and enrichment opportunities available throughout Santa Cruz County. Children participated in interactive activities while parents connected with organizations committed to helping young people develop creativity, confidence, leadership, and real-world skills.

The showcase featured an engaging Youth Arts Showcase, where local arts organizations invited children to participate in hands-on creative experiences. Young attendees joined artist Janice Serilla for a community drawing challenge, enjoyed an interactive music experience and sing-along with Genoa Brown of Everyone’s Music School, explored movement and dance with Paris Cannon from the International Academy of Dance, and participated in theatre activities led by Lindsey Chester of All About Theatre.

The event also highlighted Santa Cruz County’s growing innovation ecosystem through an Entrepreneurship Showcase, featuring speakers and organizations dedicated to preparing young people for the future. Doug Erickson, Executive Director of Santa Cruz Works, delivered the keynote presentation, encouraging families to nurture entrepreneurial thinking and creativity from an early age.

Families also learned from industry leaders including Niall Macken of Spanner Design, who shared insights into the design thinking process behind successful products; renowned toy inventor David Silverglate of Sky Design Studio, creator of the Oball, which has sold more than 100 million units worldwide; and Chris Bley of DART (Drone, Automation & Robotics Technology), who introduced families to future career opportunities in robotics, drones, and advanced technology.

Young entrepreneurs Milo and Mia, representing the 3D Entrepreneurs Club, demonstrated how students are transforming ideas into real 3D-printed products while developing entrepreneurship, financial literacy, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Beyond the scheduled presentations, families explored interactive exhibits featuring 3D printers, robotics demonstrations, technology experiences, children's activities, and community resources, creating opportunities for children to learn through hands-on experiences and discover new interests.

"This showcase was created around one simple idea: when our community works together, children have more opportunities to discover their passions and develop their talents," said Bobby Roy, Founder of 3DE Club. "Santa Cruz has an incredible network of artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Bringing everyone together allowed families to experience the many pathways available to help children learn, create, and succeed."

The event demonstrated the power of collaboration among organizations serving children and families. By connecting arts organizations, educational programs, entrepreneurs, and community partners, the showcase strengthened the network of opportunities available to young people throughout Santa Cruz County.

The 3DE Club extends its sincere appreciation to all presenters, exhibitors, volunteers, partners, and attendees who helped make the first-ever showcase a success. Their participation demonstrated the strength of community collaboration and a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of creators, leaders, and entrepreneurs.

Following the strong community response, 3DE Club plans to continue creating collaborative showcases and events that connect families with educational, artistic, technological, and entrepreneurial opportunities throughout Santa Cruz County.
