A Mini Cooper Turns Into a Zero SR/S on 4 Wheels

The creativity and ingenuity that comes out of Santa Cruz is just electrifying!! The CTO of Zero Motorcycles, Abe Askenazi, turned a Mini Cooper into a Zero SR/S on 4 wheels. Read their LinkedIn post below.

The team here at Zero is driven by innovation and we've had a ton of fun over the years with electric conversion side projects.
Our CTO, Abe Askenazi, picked up this 1966 Mini Cooper and turned it into what is essentially a Zero SR/S on 4 wheels. SR/S powertrain, switchgear, TFT display, J1772 charge port...the only electrical component left from the original Mini is the windshield wiper motor. While there were plenty of challenges, Abe managed to achieve his target goal of 0-60 in ~5 seconds and a top speed of 80mph.

The conversion was a team effort that wrapped up last year, but it's not uncommon to see Zero staff ripping around our Scott's Valley offices in the electric Mini-Z to this day.

Shoutout to Micah Bayless, Ryan B., Will Brunner, Anthony DeAngelis, Josh Roton, Steve Salyer, Eland Eggers, and Calfee Design for their contributions on this project!
