Santa Cruz based audio/visual company, JBQAV and Capitola Mall’s chief of operations are happy to announce a drive-in movie night showing a classic & family friendly film for the holidays on December 20th, 2020. “The production industry as a whole has been hit hard by the pandemic since March of 2020 and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to hold a socially-distanced holiday event” said JBQAV’s owner, Jaron Burnett. The movie night will be complete with movie theater screens, sound transmitted right to car’s radios and participation by the mall’s retailers (one of which will churn popcorn) as well as some concession vendors and food trucks. Food and hot drinks will be available pre-order or sold during the event.  The event also has the intention to bring awareness to the equally hard hit mall’s retailers while they can offer delivery directly to vehicles, safely. Sponsorship from businesses local to Santa Cruz County are invited to contact JBQAV and a grid of tiered ad pricing is available.  Nonprofits Jacob’s Heart Children’s Support Services and The Salvation Army will be present to bolster a holiday giving spirit. Both will have representatives there to accept your generous donations.

Because of social distancing protocols enforceable by the city as well as state and federal guidelines due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a limited number of free tickets will be available for reservation online @ jbqav.com or over the phone (831) 621-3978 x403. The film’s title will be listed online in the coming days. An estimated 30 cars will fit in front of each silver screen. At two planned drive-in movie viewings, first at 5:30pm and second at 7:45pm on December 20th, about 120 lucky individuals will have the luxury to watch the film, eat, shop for last minute holiday gifts via curbside delivery. It will be very merry over the course of the evening. Parties with reservations are encouraged to go with a single household, dress warmly, bring their favorite snuggies along and consume hot food and drinks offered by vendors there at the event. No congregating outside of vehicles, outside food, drinks or alcoholic beverages are allowed.

"The lot we will be using is the one directly across the street from Tacos Moreno on the Capitola Road side between the entrance driveway and the Bank of America building” said Brian Kirk, the mall General Manager."

The Drive-in movie night planned at The Capitola Mall showing a soon to be announced family friendly film on December 20th will fill up fast so it is advised to act now and make your reservations online or over the phone.  It will happen, rain or shine!

Event is subject to change due to SIP orders.
