When Alex Viera started Pacific BPA 18 months ago, it seemed as unlikely as finding great summer surf in Santa Cruz.

“For the first 8 months I didn’t make a penny and was losing faith,” explained Alex. “Fast-forward, Pacific BPA just won the Nintex 2020 Innovation Award for the solution I built for Zoom. Zoom could not keep up with all the new orders they were getting because of Covid. Now, everything is automated, saving them time and money!”

When he learned about Zoom’s need for managing their channel partners, he went to work on his new idea. Zoom needed a very specific detailed workflow. An order is sent from a Zoom partner, flows into Zendesk, where Zoom can see the number of orders and status, which is then pushed to the sales team’s SFA (Salesforce). Using the Nintex Platform, he developed a workflow solution in weeks, not months. Alex’s solution integrated with Zendesk and Salesforce, without involving IT, and without writing a single line of code.

Alex’s career journey started when he told his mom that all he wanted to do in life was surf. She drove him to take classes at Cabrillo, where he was inspired by a math professor who guided him to a CS degree at UCSC. His first job out of college was with Microsoft where he spent 16 years honing his skills. Nowadays, when he is not developing award-winning workflow solutions, you can find him surfing, foiling, or spear fishing.
