Help X Academy Win World Championships

Andrew Sylvester and his underwater robotics team had an amazing day last weekend at the MATE Regional Competition and qualified for the World Championships! This year the World Championship is in Longmont, CO and they need your help covering the expenses.

This is the third year for the X Academy to sponsor a team, composed of a small but dedicated group of eleven high school students Kirby, Santa Cruz High, PCS, Los Gatos High and Ceiba in Watsonville.

The team spent the last six months working on weekends to design, build and test their ROV. Plus they had to write a technical report and give an oral presentation. They are doing "real" engineering - learning new skills, designing, building, testing and re-designing after learning from their mistakes.

“We have started a GoFundMe and it would be great if our friends could make small donation $25 or more if you can,” explains Andrew.

X Academy also has a great team of parent mentors this year and look forward to competing again next year. The team meets in the Maker Space in Harvey West with a great set of resources: 3D printer, laser cutter, electronics equipment, test pool and tons of other tools. So, if you have a high school student that is interested in engineering and robotics, contact X Academy.

But first, please make a small donation to help fund the trip to compete at World Championship!
