Climatize Crosses $20 Million in Clean Energy Investments
Santa Cruz-based Climatize crossed a major threshold in August, surpassing $20 million invested through its clean energy investment platform while launching its 50th project.
The milestone continues a rapid climb for a company with deep Santa Cruz roots. Climatize was co-founded by Santa Cruz born-and-raised Will Wiseman, a Santa Cruz High graduate, and Alba Forns after the two met while studying renewable energy in Europe. Wiseman later returned home to build the company in Santa Cruz.
Climatize also has a long history with Santa Cruz Works. The company joined the fourth Santa Cruz Works Accelerator cohort after returning to the United States, received local coworking support and later secured a $135,000 investment from Central Coast Angels.
The growth since then has been substantial. In September 2024, SCW reported that Climatize had crossed $5 million invested. By August 2025, that figure had reached $10 million across 22 projects. This June, the platform passed $17 million. Climatize’s live platform now lists $20.26 million raised, 50 projects and more than 4,900 members.
Much of the company’s recent work has focused on handling more projects without proportionally increasing the time required to evaluate them. In August, Climatize says its platform read and cited all 37 documents in a live 626 kW Baltimore project data room, analyzed 72 data pipelines and reproduced the project’s DSCR, levered IRR and Investment Tax Credit calculations in minutes for less than a dollar.
That shift is becoming important as the amount of capital moving through the platform grows. Climatize now sees the speed of underwriting, structuring and closing projects as a larger constraint than investor demand, and has continued building its financial modeling and project diligence tools to increase that capacity.
For Santa Cruz, the $20 million mark is another step in the growth of a company that went from a local accelerator cohort to financing renewable energy projects across the country. Just one year after passing $10 million, Climatize has now doubled that total and expanded from 22 projects to 50.
