Seems like a lifetime ago when we held our first Santa Cruz New Tech event. Maybe two lifetimes: 2008. We had only a dozen attendees, and a lot of leftover pizza. Our first presenters included a Santa Cruzian named Phil Libin with a startup to help people remember things better: Evernote. And our organization steadily grew to more than 11,000.

Back in 2018 County Supervisor, Ryan Coonerty proclaimed February 7 as “Santa Cruz New Tech MeetUp Day” throughout the kingdom of Santa Cruz County (but he forgot to sign it). Therefore, and by the powers invested in our organization, we highly recommend you cancel all business and take the day off on February 7. Well, after all, February 7th falls on a Sunday this year.
