Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE:JOBY), a company developing all-electric air taxis, announced that it will participate in the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). This new program, created by a recent Presidential Executive Order, is designed to allow mature eVTOL aircraft to begin operations in select markets ahead of full FAA certification.
The eIPP aims to demonstrate various use cases for eVTOL aircraft, such as passenger transport, cargo delivery, and emergency response. The program requires participating companies to have highly mature aircraft and be operationally ready to launch community projects.
Joby's participation is a significant step toward bringing its air taxi service to communities nationwide. The company has flown more than 40,000 miles across its fleet and is in the late stages of its FAA Type Certification process.
"President Trump has long recognized the significance of America’s leadership in the next era of aviation and this initiative ensures our nation’s leadership will continue,” said Greg Bowles, Chief Policy Officer at Joby. “We’ve spent more than 15 years building the aircraft technology and operational capabilities that are defining advanced aerial mobility, and we’re ready to bring our services to communities. We look forward to demonstrating our aircraft's maturity and delivering early operations in cities and states nationwide.”
Joby is actively collaborating with state and local governments in Texas, Florida, Ohio, New York, and California on potential eIPP projects. Interested applicants can contact the company at eipp@jobyaviation.com.
