The Titans Awards Gets a New Name
The Titans Awards has a new name, chosen by our community and proposed by former Titan Aviv Elor: Santa Cruz Works Wavemakers.
The votes are in, and the community has spoken. After nine years of celebrating the people who move our region forward, Santa Cruz Works is proud to announce the new name for our annual recognition event: Wavemakers.
Why a new name
What began as Titans of Tech, and later became the Titans Awards, has always honored some of the region's most impactful entrepreneurs, engineers, educators, researchers, nonprofit leaders, and innovators. As the event grew well beyond tech, we wanted a name that reflects the full community we celebrate.
Chosen by the community
We asked you for ideas, and you delivered. After narrowing the submissions to a shortlist, we opened a community vote where everyone picked their top three. Wavemakers rose to the top.
The winning name was submitted by Aviv Elor, a former Titan himself!
Why Wavemakers fits
Few words capture Santa Cruz better than waves. Wavemakers are the people who start something, build momentum, and create ripples that reach far beyond their own work. That is exactly who this event has always been about, whether they are launching companies, teaching the next generation, advancing research, or strengthening our nonprofits.
What's next
The spirit of the event stays the same: celebrating the people who make Santa Cruz County a place where innovation thrives. Stay tuned for details on this year's Wavemakers honorees and event. More info coming soon!
Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas and cast a vote. And congratulations, Aviv, for giving our community's changemakers a name that truly fits.
